Bridge2AI Coordination Center

The NIH Common Fund’s Bridge to Artificial Intelligence (Bridge2AI) Consortium will propel biomedical research forward by setting the stage for widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) that tackles complex biomedical challenges beyond human intuition.
Bridge2AI is a signature NIH initiative. It recognizes the challenges and opportunities in the growth of data science and data-driven methods for biomedical and behavioral research and healthcare delivery. Building from our collective experience in successfully guiding large NIH initiatives and (inter)national scientific consortia, the Bridge Coordination Center (CC) is designed to ensure a responsive set of Cores that will support and enable Bridge2AI programs. Working with two other U54s (University of California, San Diego; University of Colorado-Anschutz), the UCLA program is responsible for two key efforts: tool optimization and skills and workforce development. Tool optimization looks to develop best practices and general method across diverse Bridge2AI Data Generation Projects (DGPs). The educational arm of our program is responsible for developing AI curricula across biomedical career trajectories, disseminating ideas from B2AI programs, and fostering a diverse workforce that will be prepared for the future of biomedical AI and data science.
To further support the Bridge2AI community and advance a diverse workforce capable of shaping the future of AI in biomedical and behavioral research and clinical care, this supplement looks to develop a broad electronic platform for dissemination of curated training materials, in addition to providing new opportunities for junior clinical fellows to participate in Bridge2AI activities and training.
