UCLA Medical & Imaging Informatics (MII) is an interdisciplinary group representing a diversity of experience and expertise in areas related to biomedical informatics and data science. We work at the intersection of multiple areas, developing new computational methods and applying contemporary sociotechnical approaches to enhance research and to improve healthcare. Our research and training programs are based on the idea that sciences advances because of collaborative expertise; and in the space of modern medicine, this requires physicians, engineers, data scientists, and many others to truly change how health is understood and the delivery of healthcare. We are committed to the mission of improving healthcare for everyone, through improvements in biomedical research and the insights it creates, and its ultimate translation into real-world practice.

MII is a core part of UCLA’s Medical Informatics program and other graduate training efforts across the campus, fostering the next generation of leading biomedical informaticians and data scientists.

 Support

MII provides support through departmental and institution-wide initiatives, helping scientists and physicians through new informatics and data science methods.
