UCLA Medical & Imaging Informatics (MII) is an interdisciplinary group. Our faculty, staff, and students represent a diversity of experience and expertise in areas related to biomedical informatics and data science. We work at the intersection of multiple fields, developing new computational methods and applying contemporary socio-technological approaches to enhance research and to improve healthcare.

Founded in 1985 as a research group in the UCLA Department of Radiological Sciences.
Continuously funded by the NIH since 1985, with MII faculty as PIs for more than $30M in extramural direct costs in the past decade alone.

6 core MII faculty and 20 staff, including programmers, project managers, and technical and research administrators.
Currently 23 PhD students through UCLA Bioengineering, Computer Science, ECE, Bioinformatics, and the Medical Informatics Home Area.
